Ontario Probate Fees
Estate Administration Tax: nothing on the first $50,000, then 1.5%.
British Columbia Probate Fees
$6 per $1,000 up to $50,000, then $14 per $1,000, plus a $200 filing fee.
Alberta Probate Fees
A graduated fee capped at $525, however large the estate.
Quebec Probate Fees
No fee at all for a notarial will — the form of the will decides it.
Nova Scotia Probate Fees
Among the highest in Canada: $16.95 per $1,000 above $100,000.
Saskatchewan Probate Fees
$7 per $1,000 from the first dollar — no tax-free band at all.
Manitoba Probate Fees
Abolished in 2020. Any size of estate pays the same nominal fee.
New Brunswick Probate Fees
$5 per $1,000 above $20,000 — the lowest rate in the Maritimes.
Prince Edward Island Probate Fees
$400 at $100,000, then $4 per $1,000 above it.
Newfoundland and Labrador Probate Fees
$60 plus $0.60 per $100 — a flat 0.6% in practice.
Yukon, NWT and Nunavut Probate Fees
No percentage anywhere in the North: Yukon $140 flat, NWT and Nunavut capped at $435.
