A contract with an insurance company: you pay regular premiums, and if you pass while the policy is in force, the insurer pays a tax-free lump sum to your chosen beneficiaries. They can use it for anything — mortgage, debts, day-to-day expenses, funeral costs, or income replacement.
Life insurance protects the people who depend on you. If you have a mortgage, dependent kids, or a spouse who couldn't sustain the household alone, life insurance replaces your income for the years they'd need support. It's also a tax-efficient way to leave a legacy.
You pay a fixed monthly premium for a defined period (term life) or for life (whole life). Your beneficiaries receive a tax-free lump sum when you pass. Term policies are cheaper and cover a fixed number of years; whole life is permanent and builds cash value over time.
It depends on your stage of life. Parents with young children typically need large term policies sized to replace income for 20+ years. Adults over 50 often shift toward smaller permanent policies focused on final expenses and legacy. Our advisors can walk you through what fits your situation.
Not for most plans. Simplified-issue policies require only a short health questionnaire, and guaranteed acceptance policies require no medical questions at all. Fully-underwritten term policies do include a paramedical exam but offer the lowest rates.
